“… an encouraging word cheers a person up” (Proverbs 12:25).
The tongue has the ability to set a lot of ‘negative and positive’ things in motion. What comes out of your mouth has the ability to change the course of your future. The words that come forth from your mouth are often spoken from your heart. Proverbs 18:21 says that your words carry power and you should be very careful how you use them (“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit”). Once your words are spoken, they become a living force on their own. It matters not how many times you say ‘I am sorry’, those words will continue to live in the heart of the one that they were spoken to.
God has blessed you to be a blessing to others (Genesis 12:2). To think of it; When was the last time you blessed the people around you? Your children before they go to school; do you bless them? Did you tell them how bright their future is? Did you tell them how proud you’re to have them in your life? Did you remind them how clever they are and that nothing can stand before them at school? Your children fail at school; because some teacher told them how stupid they are! They spend too much time with their friends; because their friends speak things into their lives. I mean think about it; where do your kids get their nicknames?
When was the last time you told your wife or husband how much you love them? Have you told her lately how beautiful she is? Did you tell them that they cook the best meal in the world? Have you told him lately how handsome he is? They need to hear these words from you, before somebody else tells them! I’ve learned that, once you don’t bless the people around you, somebody else will! One of the reasons why people cheat; it’s because they’re being appreciated somewhere else. Statistics shows that most of the couples going through a rough patch; they tend to run to their friends for advice. You see, just one positive word from your mouth; can help shape their destiny.
When we speak, we often speak what is within our heart. When we speak what is within our hearts, we speak what we believe. When we speak what we believe, we are speaking in faith, even if what we have faith for is negative. And the faith behind those words carries the power to make things happen. Words are contagious.
Just go around infecting everyone with your positive words; and the next thing you know, everybody around you, will start aligning their speech to your positive words! Expect God to show up early in your life! Enjoy a fresh new beginning and have a very Blessed day.
